Aqualine MBBR systems can be used to treat wastewater from different sources (domestic, wineries, dairies, etc.) in combination with other processes in order to optimally purify the wastewater: After anaerobic treatment to remove BOD (biochemical oxygen demand); before activated sludge systems for high BOD/COD (chemical oxygen demand) treatments, for the development-conversion of existing facilities (lagoons, oxidation ponds and activated sludge plants) or as a pre-treatment process in existing activated sludge systems to comply with new regulations in nitrogen removal.
Aqualine MBBR systems can be applied to a wide range of wastewater flow rates between 20 m3/day and 10,000 m3/day.
Aqualine MBBR systems contain small biomass carriers (0.93-0.95 SG) whose density is less than water. These carriers provide a large protected surface area for bacterial production and enable the fields to maintain active biomasses within the bioreactor. Thanks to the unique design of the biofilm carriers, the system is protected from value deviations (pH, temperature, toxic shock) during operation, resulting in a highly durable system suitable for various loading fluctuations.
